- Silver carp and bighead carp are warm water fish, and the high temperature in midsummer is a good opportunity to fish for silver carp and bighead carp. Compared with other fish, silver carp and bighead carp are relatively easy to fish, but there are still many details that need to be paid attention to, otherwise it is difficult to get good fishing results.
1. Choice of time
Silver carp and bighead carp like to forage in water temperatures of 25~30℃, so when fishing for silver carp and bighead carp in summer, choose a hot and sunny day to fish. If there are gusts of breeze below level 3, it will be better. It is not suitable to fish on rainy days or windless hot days. Silver carp and bighead carp can be fished during the day and at night. The best fishing time during the day is from 1 to 4 pm, and the best fishing time at night is after dawn.

Instead, you should prepare the water to be added to the bait in advance according to the ratio of bait and water, and then pour it all into the bait basin, stir it quickly, and let the bait absorb water fully; second, the commercial bait of silver carp and bighead carp requires more water than other types of bait, so adding water and mixing silver carp bait should be left for a longer time than other types of bait; third, although the amount of bait used for fishing silver carp and bighead carp is large, we can’t mix too much at a time, so as not to change the state of the bait due to hot weather.

4. Choice of fishing gear
If you fish on the shore, you can use a 6.3-meter ultra-light, flexible, and good-feeling long-section rod. Because when fishing for silver carp and bighead carp with a hand rod, the frequency of casting the rod is very fast, so the rod is too heavy and easy to get tired; the rod is too hard and easy to break the line and run away; the rod is too soft and not conducive to controlling the fish; silver carp and bighead carp generally dare not approach the shore to find food, and the rod is too short, so it is difficult to catch. If we have the conditions to go on the boat to fish, then we can use a 4.5-meter or even 3.6-meter fishing rod. Use No. 4.0 for the main line and No. 3.0 for the brain line, two No. 10 large hooks, and the hook distance should be slightly larger than that for fishing other fish, with a distance of three hooks being appropriate. 5. Fishing method
Silver carp and bighead carp can be fished by floating or bottom fishing, but in the hot summer, floating fishing is generally the main method. Because silver carp and bighead carp will change their swimming layer in the water with the change of water temperature, floating fishing is much more active than bottom fishing. Except for the weather with strong wind and waves, we usually choose one-third of the water depth when fishing in the morning; when fishing in the afternoon, we usually choose one-half of the water depth.
