Introduction: The 16th Weihai International Fishing Gear Expo, held from October 12th to 14th, 2024, at the Weihai International Economic and Trade Exchange Center,
Exhibition Scale and Content: The expo utilized the E1, E2, E3, E4, and E5 halls of the International Economic and Trade Exchange Center, as well as some outdoor square areas, covering an area of approximately 60,000 square meters and setting up about 2,000 international standard booths. The exhibition showcased a wide range of fishing gear, including fishing rods, reels, hooks, lines, baits, nets, and other fishing accessories. It also featured fishing gear manufacturing materials, parts, and equipment, fishing electronics and auxiliary tools, as well as fishing boats, RVs, paddleboards, and outdoor leisure products.
Exhibitors and Buyers: From over 1,400 domestic and international enterprises that registered, approximately 1,000 were selected to participate. Among them, 198 were from Weihai, 768 from other parts of China, and several from overseas countries including the United States, Germany, and Italy. The participating enterprises are from 22 provinces and cities, with 246 from Shandong Province, of which Weihai enterprises account for 80% of Shandong’s total and 20% of the total exhibitors. Nearly 1,000 international buyers from about 60 countries and regions registered to attend, along with nearly 2,000 domestic buyers from 22 provinces and cities, representing 737 companies.
New Features of the Expo: The scale of the expo reached a new high, with all five exhibition halls in use and outdoor spaces fully utilized, making it the second-largest fishing gear exhibition in China in terms of area. The quality of the expo was further enhanced, with 245 enterprises setting up special booths, accounting for more than 50% of the total exhibition area. The expo has evolved into a strong platform for promoting technological innovation and product research and development in the fishing gear industry. Service optimization was also a focus, with the re-planning and layout of the exhibition, improvements to the Xaiyao Road on the west side of the exhibition center, the opening of the west entrance hall, the establishment of two catering and rest areas, and the strengthening of intellectual property rights protection. Public transportation routes were adjusted to facilitate
citizen participation in the exhibition.
Participation and Activities: The participation of merchants was very enthusiastic. The expo serves as a high-energy platform for Weihai’s opening up and a top global fishing gear industry event. More than 90% of the exhibition spaces for the next session are booked before the current session ends. It is estimated that there are about 5,600 exhibitors, 2,000 domestic registered buyers, and 1,000 international registered buyers, with many more merchants coming to participate on the day of the exhibition. The expo’s internationalization level ranks first in China, and in October, tens of thousands of domestic and foreign merchants and enthusiasts will gather in Weihai to experience the unique charm of “China’s Fishing Gear Capital” and “China’s Fishing Rod City.”
In terms of supporting activities, the expo meticulously organized a variety of activities, including brand launches, such as the “Weihai Fishing Gear” collective trademark launch and new product launches. It also hosted the China Weihai Kayak Bass Fishing Tournament, Cross-Border E-Commerce Summit, and various performances and试驾体验 activities. These activities aim to promote the integration and interaction of exhibitions, culture, tourism, and leisure industries, creating a refreshing fishing gear feast for participants.
